Council Skatepark Analysis
In a lot of ways, Australia is the lucky country when it comes to Skateboarding. We have an abundance of Skateparks, and what is particularly impressive, is how well we have covered regional Australia.
The Biggest Skatepark builds in history, happened around late 90s and early 2000s.
Close to around 50% of Australia’s current Skateparks were built during this time.
This also means Councils have major planning to do. What was once a forgotten asset in the back of a parkland is now part of a functioning community ecosystem providing sporting pathways and recreation.
What is a council to do?
We’ve communicated with over 30% of Australia’s Councils on Skateparks, and here is what we’ve learnt:
1. Most councils need a multi year strategy and know they need it.
2. Most councils don’t have or haven’t budgeted for a multi year strategy.
3. They cross different departments, and no one knows where to start.
4. It can seem like a big outlay for councils with a strategy entailing an Audit, Analysis, Community consultation, and strategic planning all in one.
While internal staff have these challenges, there is a need to move forward nationally, and locally and start getting a strategic direction before the costs of repair become too high.
Prevention is the key.

THE SPORTS ADVISORY SKATEPARK GUIDE
The first step in planning your Skateparks is knowing what you’ve got, we’ve developed an analysis that Captures:
Every Obstacle on every skatepark in your region.
All amenities mapped, public transport, shade, seating, water, lighting, toilets.
Surface condition of each facility.
Disciplines and skatepark levels.
With this data, Sports Advisory can provide to councils:
A snapshot of which discipline of parks, as well as levels of parks, are in the region, and what would be required in the future.
A complete snapshot of modern and outdated obstacles, what each facility has, and where council can upgrade existing facilities to cover all bases.
Cross contamination, avoid repeating facilities that are easily accessible with each other.
A Comprehensive skatepark guide that can provide council a full scope and comparison of council facilities, that can be used to run community consultation, as a baseline for future strategy, and guide for internal stakeholders to assist with future planning and budgetary requirements.
Your final report will compare your facilities nationally, and with knowledge of future plans through key NSO’s and other stakeholders.

LOWEST COST IN HISTORY - We have committed to cater for 15 councils at a heavily discounted rate. This is less than 3% of LGA regions will have the opportunity to be able to obtain a facility guide at the unique rate.
Rates are more than 6x lower than a traditional skatepark audit.
